In her TED talk about vulnerability Brené Brown talks about her findings of research she conducted over many years on the universal wish of people to feel connected. She explains how some people find it very easy to connect with people around them and for others it remains a struggle to feel loved and belonging.
After a struggle with her own vulnerability she discovers that the art of feeling connected is a result of authenticity. It’s all about showing the willingness to let go who you should be in order to be who you are. To get to this mindset it is necessary to fully embrace vulnerability.
Vulnerability is the core of shame, fear and struggle for worthiness on the one hand as well as the birthplace of joy, creativity, belonging and love on the other hand. In order to enjoy happiness it is necessary to open up our hearts to sadness and pain as well.
Feeling vulnerable is knowing I’m alive. This goes as much for one’s private life as within organisations.
Believing “I’m enough” results into better listening and being kinder to ourselves and people around us.
A truly inspiring TED talk !
